A widespread yellow daisy with wrinkled, downy leaves, flowering in late summer and preferring damp, grassy areas

Stems used to be spread on the floor to deter fleas and were dried and burned to discourage midges

Formerly used to treat dysentery, reflected in its scientific (latin) name
